September's Ink Drop colors! (aka spoiler alert!!)

Don't read this if you haven't yet received your samples and want to be surprised!!!

September's theme is 'Back to School'. We chose this because of the fun memories of shopping for school supplies, getting new clothes, and seeing which of your friends would be in your classes on your first day back to school after a long summer (especially in the earlier school days!). Here are the five colors:

  • Diamine Sapphire Blue
  • Sheaffer Red
  • Caran d'Ache Amazon
  • J. Herbin Violette Pensée
  • Private Reserve Chartreuse
We had a goal to get out all of the samples by the 1st of the month, but we were held up for two days by PR Chartreuse, which is a brand new color. That, coupled with a long holiday weekend (Labor Day) made it so there were essentially only two shipping days where Ink Drop members could receive their inks before the publicized 'official ink color' release date of the 7th. We chose the 7th as the date to release the official colors for that month so that members would have a chance to be surprised, yet also have most of the month to actually purchase the full bottles of ink.

It's evident to us now that we definitely need to get our samples out on time. We were shooting for that and missed it, and for that we apologize! We only started the club a couple of weeks before September, so we had to move pretty quickly. Next month we promise things will run smoother ;)

We're going to play with these inks and do some reviews here on Ink Nouveau, as well as dedicate next week's Write Time at 9 broadcast to the inks (and comparable others) used in September's Ink Drop! With 92 members at the time of this post, there is sure to be a lot of talk about these inks!

  1. Any special considerations when using PR Chartreuse? I guess what I'm asking is whether the ink can be used in 'normal' fountain pens merely as a yellow ink.

  2. No special considerations needed! It can be used in any pen just like any other ink ;)
