Ink Drop: Blue Skies Reveal

June's Ink Drop theme is Blue Skies. Rachel and I really wanted to go for a theme of sky-named inks, the blue part was more of a coincidence :) We hope you all enjoy June's colors! Normally, we would have posted the reveal sooner, but the Noodler's Flex Pen release really threw us for a loop. If you're still interested in getting June's colors, we'll be making it available as an ink sample package soon.

So here are the colors:

I know...it's a lot of blue. There are a TON of great blues though, so we thought it was worth picking some good ones to highlight. But don't worry, next month we're really doing something wild ;)

What do you all think? Do you like this month's colors?

  1. I'm a big fan of Noodler's Nightshade. It's a very dark colour with a lot of depth to it.

  2. I'm a fan too. It's an ink that I don't think enough people know about, that's why we wanted to include it (even though it's really not that blue!).

  3. This was my first Ink Drop shipment, and I love the colors. As I've played with them, they have grown on me. I've thought of uses for all of them! Now, do I really need five more bottles of blue ink right now??

  4. I am going to have to wait until I get home to play with mine but I have to admit that you two really picked some interesting shades of blue there.  When I first heard the theme I thought it woud be boring but I was wrong!  I have been on the lookout for a blue-black (Nathan, we need a Black Swan in blue hint, hint, hint. LOL) and am really anxious to try the PR Fast Dry Midnight Blues.

  5. I'm glad you like it! Haha, how many blue inks can one person use? ;) Well I would be the wrong one to ask!

  6. Oh my goodness, I know there needs to be a Black Swan in blue!! I'm dying to see that. I thought (along with many others) that English Roses would be a blue, but it was kind of a last-minute surprise that it was another red.

There are tons of great blues out there. I would say probably 1/4 of the blue inks are 'boring', the rest have some interesting shading, color, property, etc.

  7. I have to admit I am not a big fan of blue inks in general, but you picked some interesting shades & properties here. I haven't had time to try all of them yet, but I got hooked on Noodler's Nightshade right away and have been using it a lot. It is perfect in my Ivory Darkness Noodler's flex nib pen : )

(and no, it isn't blue at all but I am very glad you included that one!)

  8. I'm glad you like it even though you aren't crazy about blue. We're going to try not to stick to a single color for Ink Drops moving forward, but we had this one planned out a while ago. Next month will be a far cry from blues ;)

I'm glad we included Nightshade, even though it just loosely fits the theme. It's an awesome color :)

  9. Thanks for getting this up quickly, Brian! I love blues and I recently found my favourite - Noodler's Blue Eel! Works great in my Edison Hudson!

A suggestion for the Ink Sample Packages - what about allowing customers to mix and match certain ink samples they want to try? This might be great for those who already have some inks from certain packages, and only want to try a few samples from different packages. This may or may not be feasible, but I thought I'd throw that out there.

  10. The only problem for me with this inkdrop was not being able to describe the colour of noodler's nightshade in words for my diary... (very dark crimson red? almost black red? brown-reddish-black?)

  11. The Inkdrop hasn't arrived here in Chile just yet, but I'm eagerly waiting for these inks! Blue was my favourite color for the most part of my life, so I think it'll be fun to try them. Specially the new Sailor Jentle ink, which I wanted to try :)

Although monochromatic themes are fun, I'm looking forward to next month (as much as I love ink, 5 pens with the same color can get a bit boring :p).

  12. I use it in my Ivory Darkness pen too, it's a perfect match.:)
