Baby Ellie

As you may have noticed, I've been a little absent from the blog in the last few weeks. I'm proud to blame that on my new baby girl, Ellie Michaela Goulet, who was born on December 21, 2011 at 3:11am. Rachel and I are really enjoying our time with her and are taking this time to focus on our family. I still have a lot of big plans for GouletPens.com and Ink Nouveau, and I will be implementing these ideas as time allows. But for right now, please forgive me if I'm a little less present in the community than usual. You can blame it on Ellie ;)

Speaking of which, here she is!

New baby! This is her minutes old.

My hands, her feet.

Joseph is now a big brother, and he sure seems it compared to little Ellie!

Rachel is recovering well, and was a trooper through the labor.

Look at that hair!

We really see a lot of Joseph in her.

This was the same outfit in which we brought Joseph home :)

These are all pictures I took, but if you want some really great ones, check out the ones my sister-in-law Rebekah Hoyt took (she's a professional photographer, that's handy for us!):

Because of our lack of sleep and the increased commitments we have to our growing family, we're going to be a little less available than usual to answer emails and blog comments. We'll still do our best and expect to be back up to speed soon, so we appreciate your understanding. We've temporarily put Write Time on hiatus until we're in a better routine with more sleep/energy to be able to broadcast again. That will likely be the end of January, but could be sooner or later depending on how things go for us.

  6. Congratulations!  Baby Ellie is beautiful. Thanks for sharing the pictures of this wonderful, big event for the Goulet family. Take care of yourselves and take all the time you need. Don't worry, we'll all still be here. Happy New Year!

  7. Such great photos!  Especially love the ones of Ellie with Minnie Mouse.  Joseph looks like he is in deep thought all the time.

  8. Congratulations; Ellie is beautiful.  I thought all of the photos were fantastic, especially the ones of the proud grandparents holding her.  As for the business, I was given a gift certificate for the holidays and ordered a Sheaffer 100 plus a bottle of Sheaffer Skrip Brown ink late last month, when all of you were occupied with those two great kids.  Except for the fact that Alex wrote the note on the receipt (and I'd love to know the pen and nib she used; very nice penmanship, too) I never would have guessed the Goulets were preoccupied.  The shipping was incredibly fast and the blue plastic wrap was as impossible as ever to open. ;-) Just a great job all around.  Again, congratulations to Brian and Rachel.

  11. Mine are a hack job compared to Rebekah's, but it doesn't matter as long as we get decent pictures :) Yes, we've had one heck of a New Year!

  13. Congratulations! I hope she becomes a pen fanatic. I'm glad to see that you know your stuff Brian, with regards to photography. Very often I see really bad pictures taken by parents.

  18. We call that 'jingle Minnie', because she has little jingle bells inside her that make noise when you shake her. We got Joseph a jingle Mickey that's light blue, so we had to get a jingle Minnie for Ellie! I can assure you, if Joseph is in deep thought, he's thinking about the movie Cars....he is obsessed!

  19. Haha...thank you for the great feedback! If you email Alex I'm sure she'll be happy to tell you what she used to write your note :)

Yes, our crew has been doing a great job keeping things moving without us. Everything we've worked towards in the last 6 months or so has been to prepare for this time right now when we knew we'd need to focus on our family. The fact that you can hardly tell things have skipped a beat only confirms how well we've prepared and how great our crew is doing :)

  20. Thank you! Yeah, you like that outfit? We're having a blast dressing Ellie up in all kinds of cute outfits....something about having a girl...we've been given tons of adorable clothes!

  21. Haha...I don't think she will have a choice! She's going to love pens whether she wants to or not, haha ;) I wouldn't really say I 'know my stuff' when it comes to photography....I am a novice really, but having a nice camera helps. Normally I'm shooting pens and ink bottles in a controlled lighting booth, so shooting people in a room with variable light conditions is outside of my normal mode of operation!

  22. Thank you! We're having a blast :)

  23. We're still keeping up with most everything while we're at home, and our crew is doing a great job keeping things moving at work. I'm spending a lot of my time planning future projects and working on ink reviews!

  24. Aww, congratulations! She's adorable.

  25. Nah I'm telling you, most pictures I see of newborns are horrible. Perhaps taken with a cellphone or a cheap camera, shaky, blurry, out of focus, poorly exposed, noisy and so on. Yours are waaaaay better than those. The camera helps a lot but I can see you have good technique.

  26. Thanks! I try :) I didn't have a good camera (or technique) when Joseph was born, so I could only get good pictures when we'd get together with Rebekah. Now, I take pictures myself and I do enjoy doing just that!

  28. Congratulations! I remember our last little one and how fun and taxing that was. :)

    Enjoy!

  29. Oh yes...the little ones are a lot of work but well worth the effort :)

  30. Congratulations to all your beautiful family. My grand-daughter's name is also Ellie, great name.

  31. Thank you! We chose the name just because we liked it and it felt right :)
