Apple Green Lamy Safari is Coming Soon!

Lamy Apple Green Safari

For reasons beyond my ability to explain, we haven't been able to officially talk about the Apple Green Lamy Safari until today. Word leaked out about this pen with pictures floating all around the internet for the last several months, but in the US we weren't allowed to show any pictures or post anything official about the pen's existence or arrival until now. We want to remain in good graces with Lamy, so we played by the rules. My apologies to all of you who were trying to figure out what's been going on with this pen but been confused with all the hush-hushery going on.

Anyway, we did have a chance to see one of these pens for ourselves, and though we don't have any in stock, I was able to snap a few pictures of it. It's a real nice looking green, very vibrant but not ridiculous. I know a lot of you are looking forward to this color, and I don't think it will disappoint. Like all the other Safari pens, this one accepts proprietary Lamy cartridge, a Z24 (or Z26) converter (not included with the pen), and has an interchangeable steel nib.

Officially, retailers aren't supposed to advertise the pen at below list price, $35. I'm sure once the hype dies down, the pens will be able to sell closer to their Safari brethren at a fair market price. We don't have an official eta for these pens, but we're told "mid-May" is the arrival date, and I'll update on Ink Nouveau and GouletPens.com just as soon as we know more. If you'd like to be put on the GPC email notification list for the arrival of the pens, just go here and sign yourself up on the email notification list.

  3. Haha, I'm glad you like that. I honestly didn't have a lot of time to take the pictures when I did, it was during a meeting with our Lamy rep! So I just took them on a few different quicky backgrounds, and when I finally went back to look at the pics, I realized I took very similar shots on all three backrounds :P So there you go! Rice! Beans! ;)

And yes, Apple Glory is a DEAD RINGER in this pen!

  4. Brian, it has finally reached the point where I look forward to the photographs of your inventory as much as the inventory itself! ;-)

  5. I really can't wait for a version to come out in neon/flouro Pink. That I would buy instantly!

  6. Darn it, I wasn't going to get one of these, but now that I've seen your pictures, I think I have to!

Still waiting for them to do a purple, though...

  7. Ooh! I love the green too. I definitely want to get one :)

  8. I'm really tired of Lamy's fascist marketing, price gouging, and ever increasing prices. A few years back it wasn't like this.

  9. In my mind if not in reality you were meeting with your Lamy rep when I came by for my purchases on Wednesday!

It's probably my favorite of the special editions Lamy has put out since I have been in the hobby. I didn't even bother with the lime because it didn't speak to me, but this one is fantastic. I do admit that ordering with the 1.5 nib might bias me just a bit because I really love it.

To avoid confusion, I'll note that I was looking so forward to this pen I actually ordered from overseas to get it. No US retailer will have it before the Goulets, I'm sure!

  10. I will take that as a compliment :) Honestly, it's getting to the point for me where I'm as excited to take pictures of new products as I am to actually use them! :)

  11. We met with our rep. not long ago and asked about a purple, it's been very requested! You won't see one for a while though, I think in general they tend to come out with one new color a year, and they alternate between the Al-Star and Safari....last year was an exception with the Ruby Red Al-Star and Turqoise Safari....so since they're doing the Apple Green, it'll be at LEAST a year before doing another Safari color, maybe two....we'll keep advocating for purple though ;)

  12. I'm sorry you feel that way. This price isn't higher than any of the other Lamy Safari's though, they all have a list price of $35. To be fair, most fountain pens have gone up in price over the last couple of years, some much more than Lamy's prices. The economic turmoil going on in Europe right now is most certainly a factor.

  13. Unfortunately, when you stopped by I was visiting with a cleaning company, so I was literally talking about toilets and trash! :P I wish I'd known you were here, I totally would have ducked out of the meeting to see you! Next time though ;)

I'm sorry to lose your business to overseas, this was a BIG issue for us with Lamy USA, they were so strict about us not talking about it but retailers overseas were taking orders and shipping to the US. Very, very frustrating for us. But, I completely understand from your point of view why you did it. All we can do is what we can do! We will definitely work to get them as quickly as we can.

  14. I do feel the need as a consumer to shop at a handful of really great merchants, but I will not lie -- you are my favorite of all. :)
