Ink Drop Reveal: October 2013

We kept up with tradition! This was our fourth year doing the Autumn Leaves fall colors Ink Drop. There is definitely no shortage of beautiful inks to choose from in the red-orange-yellow-brown range, including some nice shaders. We hope you find a few that you love!

Here are the colors we chose:

You’ll note that we messed up the Ink Drop insert card, by identifying one of the inks as “Diamine Orange” instead of “Diamine Blaze Orange”. We’re very sorry about that! Hopefully it didn’t cause too much confusion. The most important thing is that we sent the correct ink with a correctly labeled vial, so you definitely should have received the correct color! For fun, you can compare it to Diamine Orange which we used in August.

What colors do you like best?

    Noodler's Golden Brown 🙂

I really enjoyed these colors. Noodler's Antietam remains a favorite with a bottle to hand at all times and with my trusty orange TWSBI Vac 700 always ready to go with this ink as its fill. 🙂

Being the proud owner of a 16oz bottle of Antietam, I was happy to see it in this month's ink drop. It's obviously a favorite for me, and an ink everyone should try! The surprise for me was Blaze Orange. I'm not a huge fan of orange inks in general, but this one is beautiful! I'll definitely be adding a bottle to my collection.

Love Noodler's Antietam and Diamine Blaze Orange; I may well get a bottle of the latter. While I like the shading with Noodler's Golden Brown, with my particular pen/paper combinations it has looked more golden than brown, which doesn't make for good read-back. But it's interesting!

Any comments from those in a position to compare as to how close Blaze Orange is to Noodler's Apache Sunset? And how close is Antietam to Diamine Ancient Copper?

  • WIldman

In response to your question about Antietam/Ancientcopper, I will say that while they appear similar in tone from a passing glance, Antietam is a lighter/more vibrant shade of rust/blood/redorange compared to the darker/subtle brown-with-some-orange shade of Ancient copper.

I love this Ink Drop and I haven't even inked up yet! I'm planning on switching out my 6 favorite pens tonight, and I will be using all 5 of these. I'm especially curious to see how Antietam compares with Ancient Copper!
