  1. The Baystate Line would probably have been a good choice for this. Alas, we must face the truth that they have a dangerous reputation, (at least on FPN).

  2. What? No Diamine Bilberry? Bilberry is the ultimate "Blurple" in my opinion...

  3. Ohhhhh this made my decision for what ink I'm using the first day of class! That electric DC blue ink will make QUITE the striking impression with my teachers! Whoooooo!

  4. Pretty! What a great choice of colors! I love DC Blue, myself. Gonna have to snag a sample of the Edelstein Sapphire ...

My fave "blurple" is Eclat de Saphir, I think.

  5. Doesn't hurt my $6 eyedropper Preppy! At present Baystate Blue is my standard for standout blue. Some of this month's and last month's Ink Drops look like they might challenge it, though. If you've got a favorite bright blue that's more so than Baystate, I'd like to know.

  6. Baystate is gorgeous but it does stain & it's hard to get out of a pen. And it starts hard if you need to leave the pen for a few days, in my experience. I like Liberty's Elysium better -- it's also waterproof and it's easier to work with. But that Baystate color can't truly be touched by another ink, imo.

Something like the Preppy is great for BB, I think. I have a Noodler's demonstrator that I have dedicated to it.

  7. Richard Binder claims that BB has "destroyed" the translucent feeds of some Pilot & Namikis that he has worked on, but since he doesn't say what "destroyed" means, and since he can be a little, um, touchy, I'm not sure what to make of that. But Binder does know pens, so it seems sensible to avoid that combo.

  8. This selection was my first ink drop. I'm new to fountain pens and am really excited to start trying out these samples. I especially want to thank Katy C. for helping me out with my order. She was so kind and patient as I so technically described the little black stick moving up and down inside the pen. I have also discovered why you can't remove that stick and then pour the ink into the pen. After the great ink flood or January 6th I started watching the FP101 videos. Thanks so much for making samples available. I can't wait to experience more!
