Pilot Metropolitan Fine Nib (Glorious!!)

The Pilot Metropolitan is one of the best starter fountain pens out there, hands down. It's a great value at $15 (with a converter!). The one downside for it previously was that it was only available in a medium nib, but that's not the case anymore. Pilot has now released the pen in a fine nib, and it is smooth, and very very fine.

In this video I compare the Pilot Metropolitan fine nib with the medium nib, as well as the Pilot Prera fine, and Lamy extra-fine and fine nibs.

  1. Starter? This is just a darn fine pen that just happens to be $15. I hope Pilot never figures out this pen how truly awesome this pen is. (One day, Prera...one day. Teacher salary...)

  2. The Metropolitan is an excellent fountain pen. It feels smooth and solid in my hand. The medium nib is okay but the fine nib makes it the perfect pen for me.

Ever since I received my fine nib Metro, it's been my DC. It's such an amazing pen! I second dothgrin in saying I hope Pilot never figures out how expensive this pen *should* be! I almost want to buy more of them, even though I already own two!

  4. The Metropolitan is, I think, a better pen than the Prera.

  5. The Pilot Metropolitan (medium nib) was one of the very first fountain pens I bought from Goulet, and I've gone on to purchase a lot more expensive pens since then, including Pelikan, Visconti, etc. It STILL is one of the top 3 smoothest nibs I own. I love my Pilot Metro!
