Monteverde Poquito: Quick Look

***UPDATE*** As of October 2016, the Monteverde Poquito has been discontinued by our distributor.

Here is a quick look at the Monteverde Poquito, one of the smallest fountain pens around. It's awesome for a purse pen, pocket pen, just something to write quick little notes.

Monteverde Poquito in Pink

  • It's super-small and light
  • It's pretty affordable at $24
  • Takes standard international short cartridges, which are pretty widely available
  • Comes with one cartridge to get you going
  • Nib is smooth and reliable
  • 4 different color options
  • Pen is so small, it won't fit any converter, so you have to use cartridges
  • Only comes available with a medium nib
  • May be tiring to write with for a long time because it's so thin

You can check out how the nib compares to other pens with the writing samples I've done in the Nib Nook.

  1. I was between this and the Kaweco Sport for a pocket pen. I picked the Kaweco, and now I'm having some "is the grass greener on the other side?" thoughts. For those who have used both, did I make the right choice?

  2. I've used both. They're kind of different, but both really compact. Personally, I like the Poquito a little more. It's thinner, feels more durable, and I like the design a little more than the kind of chunky Sport. However, the Sport can be made to an eyedropper pen, which is pretty handy. It's really a matter of preference which is better.

  3. I have the blue Poquito and bought the pink one for a friend. The shimmery finish on both is very attractive, and the pen is solid, surprisingly weighty, and a good size when posted. I've found that the Bantam mini-pump converter will fit it, but I ended up refilling cartridges instead because it holds more ink.
I had to tweak the nib a bit (tines were slightly misaligned on mine), but once I did it was a smooth and juicy writer. I really enjoy using it.

  4. I have the blue and the chrome Poquito and I love them. They write incredibly smooth, post well, and can fit into small pockets! A quality, super bargain at $24.

  5. This is adorable I need one!

  6. good one..wanna buy one.
