Thanksgiveaway 2014

Seriously, how sweet is this video? We’re super proud of our videographer Jenni for putting this all together, though it was a team effort that involved about a dozen of us altogether. Share some love down in the comments πŸ™‚

This November, we’re celebrating you. We are so
thankful for your support over the last five years. Seriously. You have helped
us to create dozens of new jobs, you have helped to spread the fountain pen love
and education throughout the world, and we’ve been amazed by what you’ve been
able to create with your tools. We love what we do, and we are so thankful for
you.
We want to show you how much we appreciate you. So that’s
why we’re celebrating ThanksGiveaway in two big ways!
1. Surprise Gifts with Orders
We are giving away a free surprise gift in one randomly
selected order placed on GouletPens.com, every day throughout the month of
November. And these are pretty good things too β€” it could be anything from a
bottle of ink or a notebook to a fountain pen. All you have to do is place an
order on GouletPens.com and you could be selected as the daily winner! You’ll
know you’ve won when you open up your package. πŸ™‚
2. Omas Ogiva Alba Write-In Contest
We are also giving away one Omas Ogiva Alba limited edition
fountain pen (valued at $495). To enter, you will mail us your handwritten submission, telling us what you’re thankful for. It could be
a letter, a poem, calligraphy, artwork β€” really anything as long as you use
fountain pens, ink, and paper.
We’ll be selecting one winner chosen at random from all
entries submitted. If you are the winner, you’ll be able to select your pen
color and nib size and we’ll ship it to you for free, anywhere that USPS ships
in the world. Winners will be contacted in early December and announced on our
blog.
Mail your contest entry to:
The Goulet Pen Company
ATTN: ThanksGiveaway
10201 Maple Leaf Court
Ashland, VA 23005 USA
Please be sure to include your full name and email in your
submission so we can get in touch with you if you’re a winner.
Alright, now for all the fine print logistical mumbo jumbo:
All entries for
both ThanksGiveaway contests must be received by November 30, 2014 at 11:59pm
EDT. By participating in either ThanksGiveaway contest, you are giving us permission to
share your name and images of your mailed-in submission on social media (your address and email will not be shared).
Entries will not be returned to you and will become the property of The Goulet Pen
Company, LLC.

No purchase is required to participate in either of these contests.
All customers who place orders through GouletPens.com in the month of November
will be entered for the Surprise Gifts automatically. Alternatively you
can write in a letter and mail or deliver it to The Goulet Pen Company LLC, ATTN: Surprise Gift Contest, 10201 Maple Leaf Ct, Ashland, VA 23005
with your full name, email address, and the words β€œPlease enter me for the Surprise Gift Contest” included in your letter. Only one entry per person will be allowed for the write-in Surprise Gift Contest. These entries will be kept separate from the Omas Ogiva Alba entries, and you will need to mail in two separate letters if you wish to enter both the Surprise Gifts contest and Omas Ogiva Alba contest. Odds of winning will
depend on the number of entries received, estimated to be 1/300.
If you have any questions, please feel free to email us at info@gouletpens.com.
Again, we thank you!

  • Mary Bucklew

  • AndrΓ©s Lucero Ruvalcaba

Nice! I was planning on ordering some stuff from you this month.

  • Marta

That is a very sweet and cleverly put together video. Very nice. πŸ™‚ What a fun giveaway! It will be neat to see some of the entries that you receive once ended. What a great team you have and such an outstanding culture you have created. Duck Soup~ 'No. Thank you!' Where love is a two-way street.

  • Stephanie

Tootsie pop train! Super cute and creative video. Now you've given me another reason to splurge on something in my wish list. I hope Jenni sticks around a long time and doesn't pack herself off to Hollywood anytime soon :0)

  • Jack Breeding

Very nice! Clever, fun and professional. Happy Thanksgiving!

  • Tom Johnson

Wow, great video, love it. I'll have to enter both contests. I added a couple of things to my "email me when it comes in" list, and hopefully will have a couple of things ordered soon.

  • Jeff Dymond

You guys and gals are great! This is why I shop here!

  • Otter

Yay, I can comment again in Firefox! Awesome. πŸ™‚ That was a really cute vid, and the contests sound like a lot of fun. Yet another reason to order more stuff, as if I needed any excuse! πŸ˜€ Thanks for all you do.

  • Mike Winn

Another educational video, Brian. Excellent! But I miss the intricate sculptures that are usually arrayed on your desk behind you. (OK, so they're just the usual mess, but they do provide complexity and visual stimulus.) Trust me, your audience is not so distracted by the background that they fail to absorb your message. Happy Thanksgiving!

  • Lisa Smith

That is the cutest video!! Man, I was planning on giving you all my money this month anyway πŸ˜€ Guess it works out!

  • David Thompson

Cute and clever video, love it. You guys rock and my best to you for the upcoming holidays.

  • Starchix

Super cool video! And here I was, thinking how sad it was that I haven't ordered anything from you guys in a couple of days. But now I have an excuse, as if I needed one. I should stop pretending I have any will power at all and just mail you my paycheck each month, with instructions to 'send me the latest cool stuff' and get it over with. Seriously, you guys rock all over the place, and are my favorite online retailer of all time, forever and ever. My fountain pen love has been burning since the 6th grade (ca 1960) and the flame burns higher each year because of YOU. Wait for my order and my letter. Hugs to you all!

  • AndrΓ©s Lucero Ruvalcaba

You can send a letter to them saying "Please enter me for the surprise Gift Contenst". No need to purchase anything, it's in the second fine print paragraph.

  • David

How awesome Gloulet! I was perusing the site just the other day, thinking about what I "need"! Thanks for feeding my habit.
Hey Jenni, how may frames the the vid take? Certainly fun to watch!

  • Paul Peterson

    Nice stop motion video that!

I have a question for you, Brian: When a pen writes dry, it is usually the nib or usually the feed? Are there any adjustments a regular rube like me can do to adjust a feed, or is the feed pretty much set in stone (or ebonite or whatever they're made of) at the factory?

  • Ryan

Are you aware as to what material these pens are made from?

  • Liz N.

Awesome video! Okay, did anyone else catch the hand with the serious BLING on that ring finger?! Who is the owner of that massive, gorgeous rock?! Hooray for ThanksGiveaway!

  • haha, you know we had to include Tootsie Pops in there!

  • Heck yeah! πŸ™‚

  • haha, aw, I'm sorry!

  • Yes, exactly πŸ™‚

  • Hooray! : ) Thanks Heather.

  • Thanks Alan! I must take very little credit, this was Jenni and Sarah's brainchild πŸ™‚

  • haha, oh darn πŸ˜‰

  • Oh we definitely do! Jenni was absolutely loving this πŸ™‚

  • There you go!

  • Yeah, we have a pretty rockin' team I ain't gonna lie πŸ™‚ Goodness knows I couldn't have put something like this together with just my own skills.

  • haha, I hope she sticks around for a while too! If we keep dreaming up projects like this then I think she will πŸ™‚

  • Thank you!

  • Thanks Tom. Now what could you possibly still need? πŸ˜‰

  • Awesome πŸ™‚

  • Glad you have you back, Otter! You're very welcome, this was great to put together.

  • haha, which one? We've had 4 of our 6 customer care team members get engaged this summer/fall. I know at least 3 of them were in this vid πŸ™‚

  • There's usually less consistency with the nib than the feed. Most feeds these days are injection-molded plastic, the only pens I know are using ebonite feeds are Omas and Noodler's (two very opposite ends of the spectrum). The nice part about an ebonite feed is that they can be heat set to accommodate a less-than-perfect nib, but a plastic feed just is what it is. So really, the feeds are usually good, but the nib is the variant because of the hand work involved. For fixing it, the best thing to do first is give it a thorough cleaning. Maybe try a couple of inks if you have them, see if the ink is a factor. You can flex out the tines of the nib a bit to increase the ink flow (be careful, you can overdo it). You can floss the tines with a brass sheet. You can write on more absorbent paper and this will wick more ink through the pen, helping it. So there's some stuff you can do, sure.

  • Haha, yes "need" has some pretty hearty quotations there! I asked Jenni and she went back and looked up for you David, it was 1,215 total frames! That's 1,215 different pictures that Jenni and Sarah took moving each item one little bit at a time! That blows my mind, and I watched them do it!

  • Wow, thank you so much! Haha, should we set up a direct deposit to our new website? πŸ˜‰ jk, that'd be dangerous! I'm honored that we're able to inspire you with as much fountain pen experience that you have, your passion is exactly the reason we love doing what we do!

  • Thanks David! My team rocks, no question.

  • Haha, well maybe we'll get to give some of it back then πŸ˜‰

  • Haha, thanks Mike. Maybe I should have Tootsie Pops swirling in the background of my normal vids! πŸ™‚

  • Scott Rogers

Great video! My favorite bit: Using ink bottles and pens to make !!! appear for emphasis after one of the narrator's points. A fun visual effect, but also very sophisticated integration of visual and audio storytelling.

  • Jenn H.

First let me say I love this video. Second, I have a silly question. What pen is being used as the bottom leg of the K? It looks a bit like a metropolitan, but I've never seen one in that lovely color. Just curious…

  • Joe

Funny and amazing! What a great job you folks did with this. One more reason GP continues to be great company.

  • Anonymous

Very cool video and very generous giveaway!!

  • BellSome

I usually have to flush the feed when a pen stops writing especially if I've capped it since the last writing session. Maybe I have too many pens inked up, because it's happening a lot. Be sure to hold the nib pointing up and WATCH when the ink comes to the surface. πŸ™‚

  • theyellowduckie

Is there only one submission per person for the Omas Ogiva Alba contest as well?

  • soniasimone

Sent in my ThanksGiveaway note today! πŸ™‚

  • Alex at Goulet Pens

Yay! Can't wait for it to get here πŸ™‚

  • Alex at Goulet Pens

Yes, only one entry per person πŸ™‚

  • Alex at Goulet Pens

I've been staring at it for the past few minutes and can't figure it out. It definitely looks like a metropolitan though! If I can confirm, I'll let you know.

  • Tom Johnson

Got a ThanksGiveaway Surprise Gift in my Goulet order today! Something I really wanted and was amazed when I saw what it was!! The order arrived just as I finished my ThanksGiveaway entry and was waiting for the ink to dry before I sealed it up. I'll mail it tomorrow. Good thing you are drawing the winner randomely, the artwork you are getting in this contest should be astounding (but not mine, mine is just writing). Just reviewing it all would be a thrill. Thanks so much for making November such a special month for your customers.

  • Alex at Goulet Pens

Yay! Glad you got it πŸ™‚ Can't wait for your write in to arrive!

  • Christy

I may be in danger of having to sample every ink on your site. My two favorites thus far: Rohrer & Klingner's Alt-GoldgrΓΌn and Diamine's Ancient Copper. They're vivid and yet mysterious colors, incorporating multiple shades of multiple colors into one writing experience. I'm in love. And I would never have bought a full bottle of the Alt-GoldgrΓΌn without having been able to sample it first.
It's hilarious that you put a Tootsie Pop in the packages.

  • Steve Froland

Looks like a Monteverde Poquito. Great video!

  • When do we find out about the winner?

  • avonpromo

Nicely described the terms on importance of pens. Here we are also providing the valuable information visit http://avonpromo.com/
