Summer Love: A Bouquet of 12 Rose Inks

Sarah here, GouletPens.com’s Product Photographer. Most of my days here are spent photographing beautiful pens and working with colorful inks, and the limitless ways of putting pen to paper never fail to inspire me.

To me, there’s no sweeter gesture of affection than an old-school bouquet of flowers. Cliches out the window, botanicals have been used throughout time to symbolize feelings and virtues, or to simply lift someone’s spirits. Picking out the right flowers for that special someone can be daunting, and before you know it you’re having a small existential crisis at the farmer’s market.

A million questions start to play out- a single stem or a dozen? Do the color of roses really speak volumes about the relationship? When is it appropriate for the occasion? Thankfully, it’s hard to go wrong with the tried and true. However, as fountain pen lovers know very well, subtleties do matter!

If you’re feeling a little creative and want to deviate from the norm, we’ve come up with a bouquet of the lushest, loveliest stems imaginable… in ink form. Whether you’re giving flowers to your ink aficionado for a birthday, graduation or anniversary, or simply to just say that you care- we have you covered.

Each ink is available in 2ml ink samples or bottles. Illustrations were done with a Rohrer & Klingner glass dip pen and water brush pen.

The artwork is gorgeous and shows off the inks beautifully!
So far I only have the Noodler's Black Swans but I'd love to have them all. Yummy.
Have you guys thought of making your artwork available for sale as prints?

I am so impressed with the talent of all your staff, but this one could not go by without a comment of praise. Sarah! Wow!

  • LeGaulois

It's very beautiful, I love it.

Sarah you have a talent for creating a beautiful bouquet and drawing and there isn't a single thorn in the bunch!

I am not a pink-ink person but I have a full bottle of Ottoman Rose and it is joyous.

My favourite flower in the wild is the lilac: they've been in bloom for about a week and I can't pass a lilac bush (plentiful where I live) without grabbing a handful of the flowers and burying my nose in them. My favourite flower in a vase or a bottle of fragrance is the carnation: I can't get enough of it.

I've actually tried some of these: Rose Rage, Shah's Rose, the two Black Swans, Black Roses, and Red Roses (which is one of my favorite inks). And now you've got me wanting to try some of the others! Arabian Rose in particular looks quite interesting. Why am I so much a sucker for pink and rose colored inks?

Sarah, this is so outstanding! Just beautiful and what a wonderful theme. I got the Shah's Rose in a recent "Surprise Me" sample, and it is lustrous. You cover such a wide range of the ink spectrum in this artwork. Thank so much. Not being an artist, I would love to see a video showing how you create drawings like this combining the fountain (or glass) pen with water in a brush pen.

  • Mike Winn

I agree with Tom. A video showing how you create such drawings would be spell-binding.

  • We've talked about it a tiny bit but haven't seriously considered it yet. This would certainly be one to consider, huh?

  • Right? Yeah, you wouldn't see me making this kind of drawing 😛 😉 I'm very honored to have the talented team I have with Sarah and all our other talented artists.

  • haha, indeed!

  • that's wonderful, thanks so much for sharing! Ottoman Rose is wonderful.

  • haha, you're like me with blues 🙂

  • We've actually been talking about that recently, we're seriously considering it! Sarah and the rest of our team are so talented, surely we (including me!) could learn a thing or two about how they make these!

  • Noted, Mike 🙂

  • SJ Kissell

You are amazing. I am so impressed, and you have sold me on several inks, and a brush pen. Such a talented siren of ink!

I'm glad your group is pushing the use of pens…esp. the non-throwaway flexible kind. These drawings are great! I remember a post a while back that tested the staying power of different inks–Noodlers ink came out absolutely on top!
