Monday Matchup #61: Cross Classic Century – Medalist with Cross Blue/Black Slim Cartridges

Beatrix Potter is a beloved children’s author known for creating unforgettable characters- Jemima Puddle-Duck, Squirrel Nutkin, and of course, Peter Rabbit. Peter was a very naughty little rabbit; always getting into trouble and causing problems. He’d put on his blue jacket, ignore his mother’s rules, and set off to pilfer vegetables from Mr. McGregor’s garden. As a child, rules can seem overwhelming- look both ways when you cross the street, keep your room tidy, clean your plate – but as an adult we can choose to behave however we’d like. What choices are you making?
Caitlin chose a Cross Classic Century – Medalist with a Medium nib and Cross Blue/Black slim cartridges to draw a true to life picture of Peter Rabbit alongside a Beatrix Potter quote.
The Cross Classic Century – Medalist is available at Gouletpens.com for $80. You can find Cross Blue/Black Slim Ink Cartridges for $6.50.

What do you think of this pen and ink? Is it a good combination?

OMG. This is unbelievable. I would never have guessed that blue-black cartridges would be so interesting. Caitlin, thank you for another incredible Monday Match-up! Blue-black…how unexpected but how beautiful! Plus Peter Rabbit is one of my favorite stories.

Hey Kathy! I know!! I was totally surprised when I saw how many shades were in this one ink. I love this so much. I’m glad you do, too. 🙂

  • Tom Johnson

Caitlin, you whipped another wonderful Monday Matchup! Love the quote and the rabbit. Like Kathy, I would have not expected blue-black ink to become so colorful. Thank you for another special Monday.

  • Rob

I like the ink! Does it have any water resistance??

    • Madigan

Hi Rob! No water resistance, unfortunately. 🙂

  • Otter

Whoa, that’s gorgeous! I love the quote too….if only it were that easy! *LOL* Question: what size nib is on that pen? Thanks for the great Monday match-up. 🙂

    • Madigan

Hey Otter! Caitlin chose a Medium nib. I’m so glad you enjoyed this! 🙂

  • Mr. Neo

Stunning! I would love to have this as a wallpaper. Is it possible you could scan this? I can Photoshop both sides as one with a high quality scan image.

Caitlin, your beautiful bunny reminds me of German artist Albert Duere’s famous “Young Hare”. Well Done!

Another amazing work of art. Great job Caitlin.

Wow, amazing work! Especially considering the size and weight of the Century Classic is unique.

I have always loved blue/black ink. It can seem so serious and somber when written one way, but beautifully shaded when written another. When I went looking for bottled ink, I picked up some Noodlers Blue-Black–which I believe is no longer sold. And of course, I love the Century Classic. Received many as gifts over the years and and some were stolen.

Such a beautiful pairing and inspiration! I have the Cross Townsend Medalist and I am thinking of pairing it with Diamine Golden Sands, for an unexpected twist.
