Graf von Faber-Castell Stone Grey: Ink Review

Graf von Faber-Castell Stone Grey Ink Review

August's Ink Drop theme was "Trailblazing" and included a sample of Faber-Castell Stone Grey. This ink is UV-resistant and resistant to certain chemicals and solvents. Personally, I love grey inks because they offer something different than your typical blue or black ink, while still being professional.

Supplies Used:

Smear Test (Dry Time):
  • When I was using a medium nib, this ink still wasn't completely dry after 30 seconds. I'd be sure to allow extra time for this ink to dry completely on your page.

Drip Test (Water Resistance):
  • Medium - This ink is fairly water-resistant. I wouldn't call it permanent, but if you were to accidentally spill water on the paper, you'd still be able to see your writing. I think it would be great to use for writing lists, notes or letters.

  • Medium-High -You can see a difference in the swabs, showing the saturation of this ink.

Ease of Cleaning:
  • Medium -This ink required just a bit of effort while I was cleaning the pen and nib.

  • High - This ink has great shading, which I loved!

  • Medium - I enjoyed writing with this ink and found the flow to be nice in many different nib sizes.

Packaging and Aesthetics:
  • 75 ml bottle
  • Beautiful design! It could be great to display on your desk.
  • Comes in a box

I love the color grey! I found the shading in this ink really enjoyable and the flow made it easy to write with. Also, feathering and bleed-through were not noticeable. Personally, I liked the way it looked on the page with the Lamy extra-fine nib the best, so I can see myself inking up with it. If you want to see this ink used in a previous Monday Matchup, check this post out.
