Thursday Things: Sepia

There’s a sense of nostalgia that sepia toned photos bring about, that sweet longing for simpler days gone by and memories slowing fading to pictures in dusty frames. This week’s Thursday Things hopes to inspire you to embrace those great memories and record them so they can be cherished for years to come. This delightful collection of brown hued pens, inks, and journals will make you want to capture all your cherished memories like snapshots in an album with the best tools for the job.

Beautiful as always. Your photos make me want an Edison pen. Grmpfl. 😉

    • Lydia At Goulet Pens

Edison makes some absolutely gorgeous pens! The Burnished Gold Edison Collier sits firmly atop my wish list. I am planning to get myself one when I’ve reached the halfway milestone in my fitness journey this year.

      • AnneP

That Edison Collier is a beaut!

    • Tom Johnson

Julie, I have 3 so far, and all are beautiful and favorites in my collection. I recommend them highly.

    • Sharon

Me too! I just got my first – the new Arctic Currents Nouveau Premiere. The steel nib on this pen is just divine – the nicest steel nib I own. Now I want to save up for an Edison with a gold nib. 🙂

      • Tom Johnson

Sharon, this answers my question to you in my comment above! Kathy got an Edison with a gold nib and she says it is a fantastic nib. I’m thinking about that option too, we’ll see.

    O. M. G. This Thursday Things is so amazing, just a wonderful collection and selection. I have the
passport notebook, the copper Gist, and this Collier is at the top of my wishlist reaching out, calling to me too, Lydia! I love old vintage photographs from the past. Right now this is my favorite photograph, though only a few months old.

You guys made my Thursday perfect.

I think it is one of the Empress Elizabeth (Sisi) of Austro-Hungary.

      • Tom Johnson

Julia, You are correct. I did a search and found this photo on-line.

    • Lydia At Goulet Pens

What a perfect photo that is! Looks like so much fun!

      • Kathy

It was a blast! My first Roanoke Pen Club meeting! And Madigan was kind enough to join us!!! Many thanks to Tom Johnson for making this happen!!!

  • Sharon

Beautiful photo! It brings to mind a couple of other pens that would also be at home in this collection: the Pelikan M400 Tortoiseshell-Brown SE; and one that’s high on my pen-lust list, the Pilot Custom 823 Amber. (That Edison Collier is also on my list…)

    • Lydia At Goulet Pens

      Great choices, Sharon!

    • AnneP

Those three pens are also on my list. You have excellent taste.

  • AnneP

Another wonderful TT. It does make me feel a little nostalgic though because this is a favorite from my childhood:

Anne, this takes me way back! Thanks for sharing this with us, a great photo. Action, fun, just great.

    • Sharon

Swings!! Remember how awesome it was when you *finally* learned how to pump the swing yourself, without needing a push?

      Good times….

      • AnneP

YES! And seeing how high you could go.

  • MP

I love leather and browns and old photos, so I am digging this Thursday Things. Thanks!

  • Kathy

Again, I don’t know how you come up with such great themes, layouts and photography! You are going to flash that Burnished Gold Collier in front of me until my self control disappears into thin air!!! I love that pen. The Aztec Flake is gorgeous as well. I’ve not noticed the Exacompta Journal before….goes perfectly well with these pens. I can’t wait to try one (or more) of the new Robert Oster inks. They look lovely!

    • Lydia At Goulet Pens

Haha Maybe if the Burnished Gold Collier stays fresh in our minds, you, me, and Tom will all have one by year’s end 😉 We can be pen triplets! I guarantee you won’t be disappointed when you try the Robert Oster inks. They are out of this world!

      • Sharon

        Room for a quadruplet…? 😉

        • Tom Johnson

Please join us, plenty of room here. My biggest decision is which nib to get on it. I have Edison nibs in EF, F, M, and 1.1. Yes, Sharon, let’s be quadruplets on this pen! Do you have any other Edisons now?

        • Lydia At Goulet Pens

“There’s always room for more!” -Said every fountain pen lover ever! The more, the merrier when it comes to showing this pen love.
