I doubt many of you noticed this mistake…I know I didn’t, and apparently neither did J. Herbin, Exaclair, or any of their retailers! The only one who noticed this mistake (and cared enough to question it) was a customer of mine who I’ll call Mr. P. He emailed me questioning the letter ‘P’ seal, noting how similar it looked to the letter ‘C’ seal. See for yourself:

The image above is the ‘stock’ image provided for all J. Herbin retailers to use on their websites, so you’ll likely see this image everywhere….with a ‘C’ for a ‘P’! I could see how you could mix it up….after all, look how bizarre that ‘Z’ looks! Look how similar the ‘I’ and ‘J’ look. The incredible ‘scriptiness’ (not a real word, I know) of these letters can be confusing. But looking at the letters with intention, I can definitely tell the letter ‘P’ is not a ‘P’ at all, but the letter ‘C’. The real seal does NOT look like a letter ‘C’. I took a picture of both for comparison, the letter ‘P’ is on the left, ‘C’ is on the right:

I’ve notified Exaclair of this issue and I’m sure this is something they’re going to want to fix right away. In the meantime though, know that if you order a letter ‘P’, the seal on the left will be what you can actually expect. If you ever see an error like this on GouletPens.com, my blog, or anything like this, please let me know. I will take action! Thanks to Mr. P for pointing out this error, and I’m glad I had the opportunity to make it right.
