Fairytales can come true on the page in front of you with the right fountain pen and ink tandem.
Madigan, a member of our customer care team, found some inspiration for her frog prince in a book of classic fairytales that’s been handed down through generations of her family. She also found a muse in the regal pen and ink pairing: Noodler’s Nib Creaper Flex – Midas Pearl and Rohrer & Klingner Alt-Goldgrun.

The Nib Creaper Flex – Midas Pearl is Noodler’s Standard Flex Pen and the company’s first fountain pen. Featuring a slim and compact design, it comes with a steel flexible #2 nib and a twist piston mechanism. The striking gold accents are fitting for the pen’s mythological namesake, giving it the right look for writing everything from royal decrees — the kind that triumphant trumpet blasts precede — to everyday journal entries.

The Rohrer & Klingler Alt-Goldgrun ink, also known as Old Golden Green, provides a range of color with the help of the flex nib. Madigan was able to bring out lush greens when shading the lily pad and create subtle golden undertones throughout the illustration.

Madigan noted the similarities of her family’s treasured collection of fairytales and the Alt-Goldgrun ink. On the surface, both are straightforward and simple. But once you probe a little deeper and ponder a little longer, you’re presented with great complexity of character.

The Noodler’s Nib Creaper Flex – Midas Pearl is available for $14, and a 50ml bottle of the Rohrer & Klingner Alt-Goldgrun ink costs $12.
