Happy Fall fountain pen friends! School is back in session, leaves are changing, and there’s pumpkin-everything just about everywhere. F. Scott Fitzgerald said, “Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall.” Often after a hot and humid Summer, the changing seasons feel like a deep breath of fresh air. Personally, I find that Fall is the perfect time to write letters, journal on the front porch, reflect on the Summer and dream for what’s ahead.

With the help of our team, I picked a handful of fountain pen products that give us that Fall feeling. A lot of the colors we see this time of year were on our mind, so you’ll notice a lot of brown, red, orange and yellow. Enjoy, and may these pens and inks bring something crisp and cozy to your writing!

1. Conklin All American – Tortoiseshell, $76
This pen’s design is just gorgeous – it’s modern meets classic. The Tortoiseshell design makes it the pen that goes with anything, anywhere. You can use it at work, at home, to write or to sign.
2. Edison Beaumont – Bedrock Flake, $149
All Edison pens are handmade here in the USA by Brian Gray. The Bedrock Flake resin is stunning, and you’ll find the nib very smooth. Perfect to use in the Fall!
3. Faber-Castell Ambition – Pearwood, $120
Looking for a slim pen? This may be just the one. The barrel is made of pearwood and the cap of polished chrome metal. Available with a stainless steel nib, in extra-fine, fine, medium and broad.

4. Jinhao 159 Red, $12.50
The Jinhao’s red color has “fall” written all over it! It’s fun, affordable and makes a bold statement. Keep the medium #6 nib that it comes with, or swap a Goulet nib for an enhanced writing experience.

5. Lamy Al-Star CopperOrange, $37.60
This 2015 special edition is a strikingly beautiful, burnt orange color! The Lamy Al-Star is made of aluminum, and is a consistently smooth writer.  Replaceable, swappable nibs are also available separately. Consider this your new everyday carry fountain pen!

6. Pelikan M205 Amethyst, $140
This amethyst purple demonstrator is a special edition, meaning it won’t be around forever. It’s lightweight and small in size, but boasts a piston filling mechanism! Like matching your pen to your ink? Check out the Pelikan Edestein Amethyst ink!

With over 600 inks listed on our site, it’s quite difficult to narrow down the list to just six. One of the best parts (in my opinion!) about writing with a fountain pen is the never ending opportunity to try something new. I can understand not wanting to commit to a new 35 ml bottle of brown ink right away, but don’t forget we have samples available of every color we carry! And if you’re curious about a particular color, be sure to read our customer’s extensive reviews on each individual product page.

2. Diamine Ancient Copper, $14.95

3. Faber-Castell Garnet Red, $30

4. Noodler’s Purple Heart, $12.50

5. Rohrer & Klingner Helianthus, $11.95
