Lamy is celebrating its 50th anniversary of design this year in a big way. So far we’ve seen the release of the special edition Safari in Dark Lilac, the special edition Al-Star in Charged Green, and the reintroduction of the BlueGreen Al-Star and the Green Safari. Now there is a brand new model called the Lamy LX, and a new limited edition Lamy 2000. Check out the Lamy LX Quick Look video and a quick overview of the Lamy 2000 Black Amber below!

Lamy LX
(pronounced “Luxe”)

This new model very closely resembles the Al-Star, but with a few subtle upgrades. It is made of anodized aluminum in four colors (gold, palladium, rose gold, and ruthenium), with the same contoured semi-transparent grip section as the Al-Star.

The iconic Lamy metal clip is plated with the matching precious metal, which is a nice upgrade.

The black steel nib appears to be similar to other Lamy nibs, but it does have some subtle design changes. The nib features a glossy black PVD-surface as well as a laser engraving similar to what you would see on jewelry. These design improvements make the nib more solid and long-lasting. Luckily, it will also be interchangeable with existing Lamy nibs and we will be offering extra-fine, fine, and medium nibs on the Lamy LX.

The LX comes with a matching aluminum case, also anodized to match the pen.

It does not include a converter, but we do know it accepts the Z28.  There are more details and up-to-date specs on the Lamy LX on the product page, so be sure to check that out if you’re interested to learn more.

Lamy 2000 Black Amber (No Longer Available)

This is the much-anticipated limited edition Lamy 2000. It is made out of blasted stainless steel, with a special warm satin galvanic finish to give it a soft gunmetal look. A small “50” is imprinted under the subtle Lamy logo on the back of the cap.

The nib is the same as the existing Lamy 2000, made of rhodium-plated gold and available in nib sizes EF, F, M, and B. It will come in a gift box with a 50ml bottle of Lamy Blue-Black ink.

Constructed from stainless steel, this model has been given a characteristic surface structure finished with a special coating.

Each fountain pen will be individually numbered out of 5000 units worldwide. It is only available through select retailers.

So what do you think of these new releases from Lamy? Do any of these pens catch your eye?
