Very, very Gryffindor. I can appreciate it, though being a Hufflepuff, I would prefer black and gold.

    • Tom Johnson

Of course, how did I not make that connection at once? Probably looking at the pens, inks, seal first and missed the scarf’s significance.

Ohh, I can almost feel the cool, Autumn breezes just looking at this! I love this theme! It may be my new favorite.

In the large photo, you really made the Decimo look like the V.P. Crimson Sunrise. I may need to get one of those (oh boy, wishlist is getting bigger :). I almost picked up a Bourgogne 3776 a few weeks ago, but cannot quite make myself pay $150 for a pen. That happy day is coming soon enough.

I forgot to mention my answer to the question. Dark red and gold, blue or copper and rhodium, and black with rhodium or gold would be some worth mentioning, but I could never truly pick a favorite!

      • Lydia At Goulet Pens

        Great color choices, David!

  • OMG, Hogwarts and fountain pens. Two of my biggest loves! I honestly think I love fountain pens so much because they capture a bit of the magic of the Harry Potter books – they wrote with quills and vibrant inks of all colors, after all! You should do the other Houses as well! Sincerely, a Ravenclaw eager to see what you might choose for blue and bronze/silver πŸ˜‰

    • Tom Johnson

Great idea, chirmer, I would love to see the other 3 houses themed. They would make great themes for packaged pen, ink & paper sets

Now my favorite color pair is scarlet & gold! This has to be one of my all time favorite Thursday Things, so regal and majestic. In my case several pen photographs chose me, and they do cast a magical spell. I have the E95S in burgundy & ivory, the 3776 Bourgogne, the burgundy Decimo, the oxblood ink, and this sealing wax. These pens are among my most favorites, wonderful to write with as well as beautiful.

The Griffindor connection adds spice to the theme. My high school and college colors were both gold & white, but I prefer scarlet & gold for a richer combo in my taste.

And the pen chooses the writer Ms Lydia (thank you for this).

      Yes! The Gif lives on!

Love the colors of today’s Thursday Things! It’s just gorgeous. And the burgundy Decimo is on my someday wishlist. Burgundy has been my favorite color for years … although recently I think it’s switched to yama budo. πŸ˜‰

  • Kathy

Wow, another gorgeous TT! Great color combination, and oh those burgundy and red pens. Make an old southern girl get the vapors! As always, wonderful photography and composition. My favorite color pair is generally blue/aqua and white, but these beautiful reds are at the top of the list too!

Squeeee!! Is this going to be a four week series??? It totally should be! This Ravenclaw can’t wait to see all the houses!

Question? Do you think the wizarding world would modernize to fountain pens? Certainly have to be better than quills!

  • Mary Ellen Litzinger

This piece is particularly well written!! Is the author a Hokie perhaps πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰ ?

    • Mary Ellen Litzinger

Wow, I totally missed the Griffindor connection.😱 What can I say? It’s football season , I live in the heart of Happy Valley (Penn State), and I’m a Nittany Lion through and through.

You are so write. I love the alleteration used in this, very well written. Majestic menagerie, whimsy and wonder, inspiration . . . imagination. So perfectly phrased. πŸ‘Œ

Thanks, Tom! I had a lot of fun writing this copy!

    • Lydia At Goulet Pens

Haha thanks, Mary Ellen. The author wasn’t a hokie but there’s definitely a lot of Tech spirit in this office.

  • Melinda Smith

Gorgeous theme! I have the Vanishing Point, The gold notebook, and the red Jinhao in my collection. You should do a Hogwarts Houses theme (Team Slytherin!). πŸ™‚

  • Julia Traver

My college colours were Cardinal Red and Gray (Muhlenberg, Class of ’72) (yes, I just went down for my 45th reunion!) ; high school were Black and Orange. BTW, I was probably fairly close to ya’ll in Virginia on our vacation after the reunion. Shame on you guyz — no signage on your roads at all!

  • That’s a beautifully autumnal selection you’ve got there!

    • Lydia At Goulet Pens

      Thanks!

  • Erisel Cruz

The color pairs in this post are gorgeous! And I agree with everyone who’s mentioned HP, Gryffindor colors are lovely. Since no one has pointed out the last house, I’ll do my fellow Slytherin’s a solid and say one of my favorite color pairs is green and silver. I second whoever mentioned doing a blog post with all the house colors because that would be epic to see!

  • tonnieam

Absolutely beautiful colours! I have the pilot burgundy and ivory, the burgundy Kaweco, the Jinhao and sealing wax. Burgundy with gold are my favourite colours and the majority of my fountain pen collection are these colours. Once again, excellent TT! Thank you !!

    • Lydia At Goulet Pens

      Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
