Goulet Guests: Brian Gray, Edison Pen Co.

This week’s Goulet Guest is a special one, because I was able to sit down with Brian Gray of Edison Pens while I was visiting him for the first time in Milan, Ohio. A bit of a different cadence than my other Goulet Guests, this is more of a casual conversation between the two of us with some guided questions along the way.

We talk about each of our origins stories and business philosophies, Edison’s new space, their upgraded equipment, the size of their team, what it takes to design a pen, and what new Edison pens we can expect to see in 2018. Hopefully you enjoy this video as much as we enjoyed making it.

Write On,

Thank you for sharing this great get-together of two dedicated and creative company founders. I am sure your businesses will continue to prosper. I have a Collier that I bought from Goulet Pens, and perhaps it was sanded down by Brian Gray’s son!

What a wonderful video, and a great trip for Brian and Drew I’m sure. I’ve been looking forward to this video and it does not disappoint at all. I love seeing the both Brians together and learning about the growth/expansion of Edison Pen Co. And seeing the Gray’s pooch in the video is a treat. I like to think that Brian G’s son worked on the Burnished Gold Collier I bought last March, it has a perfect finish. Very interesting how Brian and Andrea’s startup influenced the direction that Brian and Rachel took with their venture.

The format of this presentation is perfect, casual and conversational. I now have 6 Edison pens: two Seasonal Edition Premieres, a Collier, Beaumont, Pearlette, and the 2016 LE Glenmont. All are fantastic pens. Wish I’d had these before I retired over 4 years ago; it would have been fun to decide which ones would be going to work with me every day.

Thanks so much guys for such an informative and entertaining video.

      Glad you enjoyed it, Tom!

Great hearing about his new shop, and the effort involved in just getting things set up. My partner’s father makes those controllers he was talking about, so it’s good to understand better just what those are! 🙂 Good luck to both companies in 2018.

Thanks for this get together. I was amazed at how involved the set up of new machines is and the amount of work involved. Gives me a whole new respect for companies like Edison.

It’s definitely work to make everything run 🙂 Glad we could share this behind the scenes look.

Did you know that the 200th Q&A is rapidly approaching? That would be a good time for the look.

Loved the video! It was so much fun seeing the two Brian G.’s and learning more about the Edison Pen Co. It makes me even more excited for my first Edison pen!
