**WINNER: Nico B. (Entered on our Blog). Check back next week for another awesome Monday Matchup Giveaway**
Greetings! Susan from the Customer Care team here. Today, I have a LAMY Joy with a 1.1mm Stub nib and a bottle of J. Herbin Rouge Opera to play around with. I love LAMY and I love stub nibs so this matchup is right up my alley. Let the fun begin!
What inspired today’s piece? Coffee! You know once, my doctor found blood in my coffee stream and nearly admitted me to the Juan Valdez Memorial Hospital for IV coffee STAT! (For you folks under 40 Juan Valdez is the god of coffee.) I grew up on coffee in an Italian household. Not Caramel Macchiatos, or Americanos. COFFEE! I mean a little drip pot on the stove. This. Was. Serious. They started us young too, with coffee milk, a little coffee in a glass of milk, as we got older, less milk, more coffee. Today, my caffeination of choice is dark roast, black, thank you very much! Here’s a little misconception about dark roast coffee. It has less caffeine, in fact, espresso has the least caffeine. The longer you roast the bean, the more caffeine you roast off. How many of you light roast folks are taking your pulse right now?
Whenever I am asked to do a Monday Matchup or a Quote of the Day, I try to think of things are going on in the moment; either for me or the company. How coffee took this long to come around is really rather astonishing. The Goulets are
kind enough to keep us caffeinated, and we do love our coffee around here. For me, it brings back memories of my grandmother and her sisters and little me (the youngest of the cousins,) in the afternoons, having an espresso and cookies in the summer when we would leave the city for NJ.
I have never made any secret about the fact that I much prefer stubs and italics. So you know I loved this nib, I am a big LAMY fan too. I own a Joy myself and I’m counting the days for the white one to be here, and then I will own two! The J. Herbin Rouge Opera Ink is gorgeous! It doesn’t flow quite as wet as I might like. For the color, I’d deal with it though, it’s really lovely! This pen, with the 1.1mm and the flow of this ink can do anything really. I have no worries about any bleeding or ghosting. If you have a very “swoopy” hand like I do you may have to slow up a bit due to the dry flow, but again, for the gorgeous color, it’s well worth it. (“Swoopy”, I do believe that is the professional word, is it not?)
You could win this pen and ink! In an effort to make entering Monday Matchup a little easier, we’ve done away with the Rafflecopter widget and will be randomly selecting a winner from a randomly chosen platform each week. The entries methods will still be the same: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and a blog comment, but you’ll no longer have to complete your entry through Rafflecopter.
