Edison Nouveau Premiere Arctic Currents Winter 2016/2017 Edition

Edison Nouveau Premiere - Arctic Currents

The winds of change are heavily at work with the design of the latest Edison Nouveau Premiere. Aptly named Arctic Currents, this pen is fashioned from rippled blue and black ebonite and features black accents. This is the 13th seasonal collaboration between the Edison Pen Co. and the Goulet Pen Company.

Edison Nouveau Premiere - Arctic Currents Nib

Unlike past editions, Arctic Currents harkens back to pens of bygone days with its ebonite body. Not often seen in modern hand-turned pens, ebonite is a slightly porous material made from hardened rubber that feels really great in the hand. The nib and clip on this pen are made of black coated steel. It is available in nib sizes EF, F, M, B, 1.1mm and 1.5mm. You can also upgrade to an 18kt rhodium-plated gold nib for an additional $125. Both steel and gold Edison replacement nibs are also available for sale at GouletPens.com.

Edison Nib Nook

You can find the Edison Nouveau Premiere: Arctic Currents at GouletPens.com for $175, which is a fantastic price for this ebonite pen. You can find more details and technical specs on the product page. This beautiful pen will only be produced through the winter, so grab one today before it’s too late!

I’m super excited for the ebonite, I just don’t have the funds for a new pen. Gorgeous, probably my favorite edition yet.

Absolutely excited. I love the seasonal Premiers and have gotten every one since discovering them. This is another great looking pen in the line and I really like the black nib and clip. Looking forward to getting a hold on this one (just ordered as an early Christmas gift for myself…). Question is, what ink should go in?

    • Lydia At Goulet Pens

I think my three favorites would be the new Diamine Enchanted Ocean, Graf von Faber-Castell Carbon Black, and De Atramentis Sherlock Holmes.

”Not often seen in modern hand-turned pens, ebonite is a material made from hardened rubber that feels really great in the hand. Being a slightly porous material, ebonite feels great in the hand.” lol

      Sorry, Anne. I fixed it.

  • vinniekowalski

But the real question, Anne, is whether or not this pen feels great in the hand? Enough that’s it’s worth two in the bush???

  • Ink please?

    • Tom Johnson

I would use a black, dark blue, or a true blue-black ink.

      • Sorry, I am trying to find out the ink they are SHOWING…. But thanks!

        • Tom Johnson

I apologize, you mean the ink on the paper samples.

    • Lydia At Goulet Pens

The splatter on the paper is Diamine Umber and the nib nook writing samples are done in Noodler’s Black. 🙂

I love this ebonite, the pen is stunning. If I had not bought Edison’s 2016 LE Stealth Glenmont recently this pen would be ordered already! Who knows, maybe I’ll get one anyway.

This pen was calling to me last night (yes, I do listen to the voices sometimes) and I ordered it late. I remembered a special edition Edison ebonite pen that Goulet offered several years ago and that I regretted not buying it then. The blue and black swirls in the ebonite are stunning. I know Edison pens are perfectly crafted and the nibs wonderful, having two already. Lydia, I started to add this pen to my wishlist and send it to you! Aren’t you glad I didn’t drop that little bombshell? 😉 Now for the short wait while the pen makes its 100+ mile journey to its new home. The beautiful photography here and on the product page are a big factor in my decision. And, I’ll be getting my first Thank You Note! Yea.
