Ink Review

Supplies Used:

Smear Test (Dry Time):

30+ seconds – This ink did not dry quickly; however, by 30 seconds it was not smearing on the page any more. It did appear to dry faster on the Leuchtturm1917 paper, so paper choice is something to keep in mind if you know you're going to be writing on the go.

Drip Test (Water Resistance):

Low – This is not a water resistance ink. As you can see, there is some lovely left over color, but overall this is not an ink that will stay put if it gets wet. The wash left over is a nice light blue, with a touch of teal in the undertone.

Saturation:

High – It's easy to see a difference between swabs 1 and 3- this ink definitely gets darker the more you put down. This would showcase beautifully with a stub nib or broad nib.

Ease of Cleaning:

Medium – It cleaned out of the pen very easily, but not quite so quickly off hands.

Shading:

Medium – You will see a bit of shading with this ink, which is fun. Since there's a lot of saturation, when the ink pools that part of the letter is darker, which gives your writing a different look.

Flow:

High – Like most Robert Oster inks, this one had no issues with flow.

Packaging and Aesthetics:

Just like all other Robert Oster inks, this comes in a 50ml plastic bottle with an opening large enough to fill a pen.
