Brian Goulet here, and I’m excited to show you more of the Visconti Homo Sapiens London Fog. This is a numbered limited edition variation of the Homo Sapiens, in a clear demonstrator body. Similar to the Homo Sapiens Florentine Hills, the London Fog is a blend of resin and celluloid that shows you the beauty of this pen inside and out. It features a really complex blue and silver swirl pattern that’s especially pronounced in the body of the pen.

This pen is a numbered limited edition with only 888 pieces worldwide. I think it’ll appeal to Visconti collectors and enthusiasts who really like the Homo Sapiens style but want something visually different.

With a total weight of 39g, it’s a bit on the heavy side but pretty in line with the other vacuum filling pens. It feels the most balanced when unposted. If you do post it, it is backweighted as the cap sits pretty far back on the pen. It features a contoured grip that’s a little on the short side. Your thumb will probably rest on the threads, but they are rounded and not sharp so it’s comfortable.

The London Fog carries the large 23kt Palladium Dreamtouch nib, which writes remarkably smooth and quite wet. Palladium is a precious metal that’s soft like a gold nib with a springy feel and some slight line variation when written with varying pressure. The London Fog is available in extra-fine, fine, medium, broad, and 1.3mm stub nibs.

The cap features the Hook Safe Lock system that’s by far
my favorite cap system. It’s incredibly smooth and only a 1/5 rotation
to open. The cap also pushes to post on the back of the pen.The London Fog uses it’s patented Double Reservoir Power Filler, a unique vacuum filling system that allows for high ink capacity. It features a small ink chamber behind the nib that actually seals off from the main reservoir. The ink capacity in this is around 1.5mL which is pretty high and needed for the wet nib. It also works really nicely with the Visconti Traveling Inkwell.

The MSRP on this pen is $995, but be sure to log into your Goulet Pens account to see our best available price!┬áIt’s a bit more than the standard Homo Sapiens, but if you have the means, you will not regret getting this pen.
