Wearingeul The Old Man and the Sea: Ink Review

Ink Review 

Supplies Used:

• LAMY AL-star Medium nib
• Rhodia No. 16 dot pad, 80g white paper
• Tomoé River 52 gsm white paper
• Leuchtturm1917 80g notebook

Smear Test (Dry Time):

• 30 seconds – This ink still smeared a little bit at 30 seconds, but with a more thin nib that dry time would most likely go down. 

Drip Test (Water Resistance):

• Low – While a little bit of residual ink is left over after the water drops are wiped up , it's not going to stay legible. However, this could be used as a great wash with art and drawing. 

Saturation:

• High – There isn't a big difference between the first swab and the third swab.

Ease of Cleaning:

• High – This was very easy to clean out of a pen, and off my fingers, despite having shimmer particles.

Shading:

• Medium – This ink has hints of shading in some letters. With a larger nib size, such as a broad or stub, I believe there would be more shading evident.

Flow:

• Medium – This ink is nicely in the middle of wet and dry flow. This ink would be good for journaling, letters, and on-the-go writing.
